Road Freight

Road freight in South Africa is as large an industry as air or sea freight. This is primarily due to the vast extent of land that is South Africa, as well as the need to service its neighbouring countries that either do not have sea ports or airports which cannot accommodate the larger cargo and passenger aircraft, which thereby curtail the movement of cargo by air.

With this in mind, Afro Asian Logistics’ Road Freight Department handles road movements of cargo from the sea ports of Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and East London, to any part of South Africa or across the borders into neighbouring countries.

In addition, Afro Asian Logistics acts as a Transport Broker which enables the Company to have a large portfolio of trucks to suit any type and size of cargo or any special project or out sized cargo. The portfolio of trucks available at short notice from Afro Asian Logistics include Bantam Bakkies, 1 to 3 ton Bakkies, open & closed vans, 4 ton, 8 ton, 10 ton, 16 ton trucks, super links, container carriers, open top trucks, side load trucks, tippers of all sizes, etc.

Afro Asian Logistics Road Freight Department staff are fully experienced to handle all types of documentation for easy clearance through customs and delivery to the customer’s door. For all cross-border movements, our staff will attend to all relevant documentation and track the vehicle throughout the journey to ensure safe delivery of the cargo at its destination.

All vehicles carry a Goods-in-Transit insurance policy for ZAR 200,000 and this amount could be increased at the customer’s request and cost. Vehicle tracking facilities are also available for ease of monitoring the movement of cargo and our Road Freight Department also provides our customers with a DTR (Daily Tracking Report) which gives comprehensive details of the customer’s cargo and its current status.
